Volunteer With the Senior Committee
The PTSA senior committee cannot pull off three events for about 700 seniors on its own. It needs parents.
Every job here is specific. You will not be asked to show up and figure it out. No vague "come help out." Just clear jobs you can say yes to.
August Events - Volunteers Needed
Still open as of August 7: 8 volunteer spots across the Senior Social and the Parade. The photographer roles have had no takers at all - three separate slots, none filled - and Clean Up and Parade Helper are both still empty.
Senior Social
Friday, August 21, 11:00am-1:00pm, AFHS Cafeteria| Role | Time | Still Needed | What You Will Do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Food Pick Up | 9:00-10:30am | ✓ Filled | Pick up food for the Social and bring it to AFHS |
| Senior Social Setup | 9:15-10:50am | 2 more | Decorate and set up for the Senior Social |
| Food Set Up and Serve | 10:45am-1:15pm | 1 more | Serve food and drinks to about 700 seniors in the cafeteria |
| T-Shirt & Sign Distributors | 10:45am-1:15pm | 2 more | Hand out class t-shirts (all seniors) and yard signs (ordered only), checking names off a list |
| Photographer | 10:45am-1:15pm | 1 - nobody yet | Take photos of the Social for the class and the committee's social media |
| Clean Up | 12:30-2:00pm | 2 - nobody yet | Help clean up the cafeteria after the Social |
- Senior Social Setup is decorating. If you have a flair for making a space look great, this is your job. Come ready to turn the cafeteria into a celebration.
- Photographers, please. Three slots across the Social and the Parade have zero sign-ups. You do not need professional gear - a phone and a willingness to move around is enough. Without someone, these mornings go undocumented. (Chalk Decorating is already covered - Roxane Warren of Photography Eh is shooting that one.)
- Food Pick Up depends on the food donors. The pickup spot and time are set once it is known who is providing the food, so those details come in your confirmation closer to the date.
Parking Spot Chalk Decorating
Sunday, August 23, 5:00-7:00pm, AFHS Parking Lot| Role | Time | Still Needed | What You Will Do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign distribution table | 5:00-7:00pm | 1 | Hand out senior yard signs and shirts by last name |
| Photographer | 5:00-7:00pm | ✓ Covered | Roxane Warren of Photography Eh is photographing this event |
Senior Parade + Sunrise
Monday, August 24, First Day of School, Apex Nature Park → AFHS Stadium| Role | Time | Still Needed | What You Will Do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Parade Helper | 6:00-6:45am | 2 - nobody yet | Help Officer Perez (AFHS SRO) line up seniors and cars at Apex Nature Park (Amphitheater / Dog Park entrance) |
| Photographer - parade | 6:00-6:45am | 1 - nobody yet | Photograph the lineup and the parade rolling out |
| Food Servers - Senior Sunrise | 6:15-7:45am | ✓ Filled | Hand out breakfast and drinks to seniors as they arrive at the AFHS stadium |

How to Sign Up

What to Expect
- You will get a confirmation with your role, time, and any instructions before the event
- Show up at your time. Someone will tell you where to go.
- Most jobs are an hour or two. You do not need to be there all day.
- These events depend on parent volunteers, and even one or two hours makes a real difference.
