Senior Pictures
Senior portraits are a big deal. They go in the yearbook, they go on the wall, and they are one of the first things that makes senior year feel real.
Principal Pittman sent senior families a detailed update on senior portraits on July 15. The key points are below. If something here does not answer your question, email Mr. Pittman ([email protected]) and he will help connect you with someone who can.
AFHS Senior Portraits - CADY
AFHS switched from Lifetouch to CADY this year. Lifetouch told the district it was leaving the high school market, and most Wake County high schools already use CADY, so AFHS signed a one-year agreement. Only CADY "tux and drape" photos go in the AFHS yearbook.
Every senior can be in the yearbook, and there is a no-cost way to do it. There are two ways to be photographed.
Option 1: Fee-Based Session (portrait packages)
A paid sitting that includes your yearbook photo, plus the option to buy portrait packages and casual or outdoor shots. Your cap and gown photos are taken at this same session.| Date | Where |
|---|---|
| June 16, 2026 | At AFHS (completed) |
| October 20, 2026 | At AFHS |
| Year-round | At the CADY Studio |
Option 2: Yearbook-Only Photo (free)
If you only want your senior in the yearbook and do not want to pay for a session, your student can have a yearbook photo taken at no fee. This happens after the fee-based sessions, on a date the school is still finalizing with CADY.- You do not need to do anything right now. The school will announce the date.
- Pittman also expects there will be a way to accommodate a student who happens to be absent on the free photo day.
Order the Yearbook
Getting your senior's photo in the yearbook is one thing. Buying the yearbook itself is separate. AFHS yearbooks are sold through Jostens.
Ordering is not open yet. When it opens, this is where you will buy it:
Check back, and order early once it opens. Yearbook prices usually go up over the year and they can sell out.
Good to Know
The portfolio in the mail. Everyone who does a fee-based session gets a portfolio of photos mailed to them about 2 to 3 weeks later. If you do not want it, you must mail it back to avoid being charged. CADY says every portfolio ships with a prepaid return label, so it costs you nothing to send back. Return it within a month of receiving it.
Cap and gown photos. These are taken at your fee-based session, and you receive them in the spring as graduation gets closer. Bundling both into one sitting means there is no separate spring sitting fee.
