Class of 2027 Info Form

The school uses this form to get your student's t-shirt size and other details for senior year planning. If you have not filled this out yet, please do. It takes only a few minutes to complete.

Senior Counselors

• Last names A-Co: Mr. Jalen Wiley ([email protected]), a longtime AFHS teacher joining the counseling team
• Counselor assignments for the other last-name ranges will be posted as we confirm them. Check the AFHS website or ask the front office.

Off-Campus Lunch Passes

Your kid will want this. Off-campus lunch is a privilege for juniors and seniors who qualify.

Requirements

Your student must:

• Be in grade 11 or 12
• Be passing at least 3 of their 4 courses on the most recent report card
• Be in good standing on conduct. Repeated violations, including tardies coming back from lunch, can get the pass revoked
• Have 10 or fewer unexcused absences in each class in the previous quarter. More than 10 gets the pass revoked
• Have all fines and fees cleared, including the current-year senior activity fee

How to Apply

The application is open now.

1. Complete the official application with parental consent. You have two ways to authorize it:

• Coming in person? A parent can sign it in front of AFHS staff and skip the notary - bring photo ID. Staff can witness Monday to Friday, 8am to 2:30pm, starting August 5

1. Pay the $5 pass fee through School Cash Online - online only
2. Bring the completed, authorized application and your printed payment receipt to pick up the pass

Cannot make those windows? Pick the lunch pass up in the front office during normal hours the following week. (That fallback is for the lunch pass. The school has not said the same applies to parking passes - see Parking Lottery.)

Meningococcal Vaccine Booster - Required

Do not wait on this one. North Carolina requires all seniors to submit proof of a meningococcal vaccine booster before starting 12th grade.

• AFHS must have this documentation by the first day of school
• If not received, schools are required to exclude students from school after a brief grace period
• A lot of kids get this at their standard 16-year-old wellness check, so your student may already have it on file. Call your pediatrician and ask.

Graduation

Graduation is Thursday, June 10, 2027 at 8:00am at the Raleigh Convention Center.

Tickets, caps and gowns, honor regalia, rehearsal, the speaker application, and end-of-year clearance all live on the Graduation page.

Senior Activity Fee

Every senior is assessed a $45 senior activity fee (listed as "Class of 2027 Senior Fees" when you pay). It covers a Senior t-shirt, diploma cover, end-of-year celebration, and other senior year and graduation costs.

• Pay online at School Cash Online
• Your student cannot get a parking assignment until this fee is paid
• If this fee is a hardship for your family, there is help. Talk to Mr. Pittman ([email protected]) or your counselor at any time. The school's intent is not for this to be a burden on any family.

Schedule Corrections

At the start of the year, students can request schedule changes through an online form in Infinite Campus (log in with WakeID).

• Round 1 (core courses only): opens August 3
• Round 2 (core and electives): opens August 12
• Schedules stay in draft form until the first day of school, Monday, August 24
• Requests are limited to specific reasons: a rigor change, a course already taken, a course the student did not select, a gap in the schedule, or a missing prerequisite. Others are denied by email
• Questions go to your student's assigned school counselor

Senior Exam Exemptions

Final exams are given during the last five days of each semester, and exemption eligibility is available to all students, based on grades and attendance.

AFHS publishes the exact exemption requirements each semester, including which exams qualify and the grade and attendance thresholds. Watch for them and confirm with your student's teachers or Student Services.

AP Exams

AFHS offers a wide range of AP courses (25 were offered in 2025-2026), and AP exams are given over about two weeks in early-to-mid May (they ran May 4-15 in 2026). If your senior is in an AP class, the exam is a separate step from the class itself.

• AP testing information is shared with students in the early fall, so watch for it then
• Registration deadlines, fees, and any fee-waiver options are set by the school and College Board. We will add specifics here once AFHS shares them
