Updated Tuesday, August 25

Senior weekend is done, and it was a good one. Three events in four days - the Senior Social on Friday, chalk decorating on Sunday, and the Senior Parade and Sunrise before dawn on the first day of school. The weather was beautiful and everyone had a great time. Thank you to everyone who made it happen.

Thank you to the Apex Police Department. The parade runs on their permit and their officers. Thank you to Lt. Best and to our School Resource Officers, Officer Perez and Officer Arata. Details on Parade + Sunrise.

Thank you to the businesses that fed our seniors. McDonald's on Lake Pine donated food for Senior Sunrise. Peace, Love and Little Donuts of Apex made the donuts and opened early on a Monday to do it, and Fratelli's Delicatessen made the 600 sandwiches for the Social. All three deserve your business - see Support Senior Events.

Thank you to the families who donated supplies and time. Food, drinks, decorations, gift cards, and parents who were at Apex Nature Park at 6:00 AM lining up cars. Item donations are now closed. Gift cards and monetary donations are still welcome and get used all year.

Prepurchased a yard sign and still have not picked it up? They are ready now on Christina Winter's porch - email [email protected] to arrange a time.

This round of yard sign sales closes September 15. Order here if you still want one, and enter your student's name at checkout. Signs from this round are not in yet - we will post here when they are ready for porch pickup. Another round opens later in the semester.

This hub was created to make senior-year information a little easier for families to find.

Senior year comes with a lot of moving parts - events, deadlines, forms, college applications, and information shared across school messages, Facebook posts, emails, and group texts. This hub brings those resources together in one place.

It is simply a parents-helping-parents resource for AFHS Class of 2027 families.

You'll find senior events, volunteer opportunities, donation needs, parking and portrait information, signs and shirts, school forms, college-preparation resources, and other details that can be easy to miss.

We'll update the hub as new information becomes available. It is not an official AFHS, WCPSS, or PTSA webpage, and we cannot guarantee that every detail will always be correct. We welcome corrections if you notice something that needs to be updated.

Latest Updates

August 25 - All three senior weekend events have run. The Social, chalk decorating and the parade and sunrise are done. Each page now has a recap, and the Parade + Sunrise page carries the thank-yous to the Apex Police Department and to the businesses that fed the class. Item donations are closed; gift cards and monetary donations still help all year.
August 22 - The Senior Social happened, and it was a good one. Shirts and signs went out, the raffle ran, and the leftover sandwiches went to the AFHS staff and the Apex Police Department. Next up: chalk decorating Sunday and the parade Monday.
August 19 - Three local businesses are feeding our seniors. Fratelli's Delicatessen is making the sandwiches for the Senior Social, and Peace, Love and Little Donuts of Apex and McDonald's on Lake Pine are handling Senior Sunrise. Please support them - see Support Senior Events.
August 19 - A message from the PTSA President about chalk decorating. Washable stick chalk only - no spray chalk, no chalk pens, no oil-based chalk - and please come within the 5-7pm window on Sunday, August 23. Spots decorated with anything else are excluded from the awards. Read the full message and see the chalk graphic on Chalk Decorating.
August 17 - Parade lineup map and a traffic rule from Apex PD. Officer Perez asks that no vehicles enter or exit Apex Nature Park in at least the last 5-10 minutes before the 6:30am start - no exceptions - so plan to be in line by 6:00am. The lineup map and stacking rules are on Parade + Sunrise.

Happening Right Now

Common App is open. It opened for the 2026-27 cycle on August 1. Seniors can create an account and start now - the essay and the activities list are the parts worth getting down early, before deadlines stack up in the fall. Note that the Activities section changed this year, including the Position/Leadership field, which now hides behind a Yes/No question. See College Prep.
Senior yard signs are $35 now that the early-order window has closed. This round of sales closes September 15 - order here, and enter your student's name at checkout. Another round opens later in the semester. Signs that were not collected at the Social or at chalk decorating are ready now on Christina Winter's porch.
Claiming a parking space? The packet comes first. Start with the vehicle registration form, then put together the packet: notarized application, photocopies of the license and vehicle registration, and printed receipts for both the $200 parking fee and the $45 senior fee. Bring photocopies rather than originals, since the school does not make copies at the table. The pickup windows are set by the school and change, so check the AFHS student parking page for current dates and times, or email Asst. Principal Will Kasapidis ([email protected]).
Schedule change requests go through the online form in Infinite Campus. See Info and Forms.
Off-campus lunch pass applications are still open. Get the form notarized, or bring photo ID and sign it in front of AFHS staff. Pay the $5 online, then pick the pass up in the front office. A senior cannot go off campus until the pass is in hand, so it is worth finishing if you have started.

The next big committee event is Senior Sunset in the spring. There is a full year of events left, and the committee still runs on parent volunteers and donations - sign up to volunteer or make a monetary donation.
