We know how the internet works. Something says "free" and you immediately look for the fine print, the upsell, or the part where they ask for your credit card. We get it. We're the same way.
We're Shelley and Ed — parents of a high school senior. We built CollegeHound because we needed it ourselves. So here's the fine print:
- ✅ No credit card. Not now, not ever during the free period.
- ✅ No "gotcha." It's the full version — and new features get added as we build them.
- ✅ We will not sell your email or your data. Period. That's gross.
- ✅ You can delete your account anytime. No guilt trip. No exit survey.
"OK but why do you ask for my info when I sign up?"
Fair. We ask for a few things: your role (parent or student), graduation year, and high school. That's what Scout needs to actually help you. Some features depend on your location — like local scholarships. That's the whole list. No phone number. No address. No SSN. No last name.
